Canada’s Nikki Hype lived up to her name at STING 2022…
The sound of Beyonce’s Alien Superstar and a captivating intro video were the backdrop to a svelte yet energetic emcee who came to Sting to stake her claim on the international dancehall circuit.

Nicola Shaw, popularly known as Nikki Hype came to deliver and that she did. The show, which was later upended by some unruly patrons , surprisingly got underway in a very timely manner, was well organized and smooth for the most part, with the introduction of many fresh and upcoming acts who eagerly graced the stage for their fifteen minutes of fame. Nikki whose job was to introduce some of those acts, was at the same time inadvertently introducing her talent and celebrity to the Jamaican mega stage for the first time. Depending on who you ask, the show really started once Nikki stepped foot on the main stage, adorned in a custom Jamaican and Canadian flags cape, paying homage to the two countries she gives credit for raising her. Nikki’s charm, charisma and sensuality coupled with her exhilarating vibe and presence made way for an exciting second half of the night’s festivities and there was no turning back from that.
Whatever your take away from this year’s staging, be it the viral moments courtesy of social media entertainers Queenie and Amari, Pamputtae’s daggering with a dwarf, Jada Kingdom’s barely there outfit, on stage scuffles or a patron’s fight with a policeman, one thing is for certain, the emcee of the night was Nikki Hype. It was evident that she didn’t make it easy for the others to come behind her. Despite a bit of territorial display, verbose utterances and multiple outfit changes, of all the female hosts that graced the stage for Sting 2022, one certainly stood out and she lived up to the hype.
