The club formally kicked off its 10th anniversary celebrations in fine style at the Roanoke Hotel and Conference center in Virginia. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Bill expressed his gratitude to his members who he said has made RRV a special place to be. The accolades were also extended to respective individuals, clubs, organizations, and companies that he said has helped the Road Runner Vettes on their incredible journey as a car club so far.

The first Corvette was conceptualized at General Motors Autorama in New York City on Jan. 17, 1953. On June 30 of that same year, the first production Corvette rolled off of the assembly line in Flint, Michigan. Production of the 1954 Corvette began in St. Louis, MO in December the same year. Since then, there has been eight design generations. The first Corvette Club was founded by John Ralph and Charles Eyre who organized the first club meeting on July 17, 1956 at the Rosenthal Chevrolet dealership in Arlington, Virginia. This has spawned hundreds of Corvette clubs across America with well over a dozen in the state of North Carolina alone.

According to the club’s commemorative message, the hallmark of the club’s existence lies in its community and member activities and in befitting form, the club’s philanthropy arm Corvette Angels continues to live up to that expectation. Each year, the Corvette Angels hosts a successful Toy drive in partnership with the local Salvation Army.

Road Runner Vettes is poised to continue to grow its membership and make its mark in the world of the American Corvette Club dynasty.
